One

One

A Poem by Kayli

The days go dark
Always dreary
A never ending mystery
for the battle to get worse
or better

A never ending war with one's heart
Seemingly pointless;
It is only a matter of time
before one cannot recall
what one was fighting for.
Who was one at the start?
Long lost memories soon awakened
Old truths no longer naked
Clothed - in expressions of corruption
Guilt and sadness now turned to anger
Everyone is in danger

Save the thoughts
Save the memories
Save the ideas that once ruled the world
Keep them in mind
without them, one is destined to grow cold
Move on, but don't forget
what made one- One.
what it took to get
the things one wanted,
the things one can now regret-

If one had kept their head,
one's sanity
One would have never grown
No new strengths to be shown
The past in all of its glory
to have been
the greatest weakness
