Chained Wings

Chained Wings

A Poem by Kayla Gentry ( Kyrie Kerr)

Chained Wings

When I look back on my life, what shall I see? Mistakes and missed opportunities? When I was young I feared the world and what it had done to me. On the playground I sat alone, not risking hurt or misery. I grew alone in my corner, watching the world spin on without me. I wished nothing more than to stay in my refuge. Then there across the room, I saw you. So like me, only better. I saw the beautiful wings you had, chained to this drear earth. You hid behind a shell of fear, same as I. Now I seek to free your wings, to see if I can stretch my own.
