Like Love that Fades

Like Love that Fades

A Poem by Kayla Gentry ( Kyrie Kerr)

Like love that fades.

No, I won’t marry into your beliefs and control,
You think you’ve won me but it’s all in the subtleties...
Which you don’t notice.
I dare not breathe without you, you cannot say the same,
You are as free as the day that began it all,
It doesn’t work like that.
I stumble, trip and fall over your confusion,
You drag me in full knowledge to my worst nightmare,
With drug induced lies and promises of happiness,
Incoherent sentences hold me upright away from the fire.
But still he sees and nightmares start over again.
My loss is complete, tomorrow you won’t remember your promises.
All I can do is bleed, that way I’m in control.
I’m your angel, your ATM, your perfect girl, your easiest lie?
You can only apologise so many times...
You’ll leave me broken, and remember everything,
With a smile on your face, and a tear in your eye.
Knowing full well that I may never stand again.
