What I’ve Already Given

I’d give you all of my heart
If that was what was best
Though you already have most of it
I’d give you all the rest

I give in to what I gave you
You can control me with so many things
I’m like an overused puppet
And only you can cut the strings

It’s like you know my every move
And you bend me to your will
But you knew that if I was broken
I’d obey you still

I said that I was mad at you
But you know how good I can lie
I didn’t want to believe my words
Because each one made me cry

I tried to cut the strings today
And I tried to break free from your grasp
But I know I’d still come if you called me
And that my free will would not last

I don’t mind being your puppet
Use me as you will
I’ll be waiting here forever
As long as you need me still

One last show for the people
Let’s see what this puppet can do
I’d do anything you wanted
If you said “I love you too”

If I could give you my heart
I wouldn’t hesitate to
But I can’t give away
What I’ve already given you
