Crystals

Crystals

A Poem by Kayla richmond

She wandered hopelessly in a midst of cold air
Her arms covered in bruises and standing hairs
Hunger ripples through her nearly lifeless body
It's not nourishment she yearns for though
Something much more malevolent than so
Cravings nearly unbearable
Withdrawal so harsh it's quite terrible
Nothing in the world she desires more,
Than to give into the monster's lure
Some may call it addiction
She calls it sanity
But because of it she's lost who she used to be
A shadow now of her former self
She begs for the high to numb her pain
Thinking it's the only happiness she can possibly gain
Desperate for another crystallized hit
She'll do anything to get it
Tears slide down her hollowed cheeks
Without its company she feels so weak
She gives her love out to another stranger
Although it puts her in danger
The monster's call is stronger
Than her own common sense.

I love your wording! I also like the title you gave this poem too!

This kind of reminds me of the "Crank" books, cause it's a poem but it also sorta tells it's own story. Very artful though.
