Too Late

Too Late

A Poem by youngpoet98
"

Don't tell me that you're sorry.

"

When silence shatters the earth and when the darkness takes its’ breed

The island storm is coming and its planted all it’s seeds

The sea no longer glistens and the land is turned to dust

The mind of all our children has been shattered into mush

Don’t tell me of your wishes when the time has come and gone

Don’t tell me of your promises when sun has set to dawn

The dreaming mother wakes as if to finally see the truth

The dying father screams as if his screams are bullet proof

No wonder as the vail of life has shielded us from pain

Too bad the time has come again for us to feel again

Don’t tell me that you’re sorry and you wish that there was hope

The world is melting slowly and will soon burst into smoke

This is a message we ignore at our peril. Caught up we are, caught up in the frantic, headlong rush of today's material world.

How stupid we are as a species, to ignore and even worse, despoil this lovely place.

Beccy.
