UNTITLED- Short Story

A Story by Kayla Colie
"

I wrote this at random when one of my amazing friends told me she was writing about her crush. This is an extremely dramatized version of something that happened to me. Hope you like it!

"
I stared into his deep green eyes as mine filled with tears. “I’ve waited forever for someone like you… and now…”
He cut me off. “Colie. I know. You must hate me now.”
I shook my head. “I don’t, Will. I really don’t. That’s what I’m trying to tell you.”
“Well, you should hate me.”
I crossed my arms over my stomach. “But I don’t. Will, I love you.”
He said nothing at first, then he sighed. “This is what I was afraid of.”
I protested. “Will. Remember what you told me a few months ago? That you loved me? You’d never leave me? You were unstable, but right when you were better, it’d be you and me. Forever. What happened to that?”
“Colie. Obviously no one ever told you the truth about forever. Forever doesn’t exist for us. I’m sorry--”
I narrowly cut him off, raising my voice a little. “You don’t get it, do you? You’re beautiful, you’re amazing, you’re perfect. You fill the huge gap in me. I can’t help but love you.”
Will wouldn’t look at me. “Colie. Be reasonable.”
“How can I be? How can I be reasonable now? Will. Look at me. Tell me. You lied to me.”
“Colie.” He reached out and touched my arm.
“Don’t touch me. Don’t. You lied to me. Don’t you know get it, Will? I… I love you more than anything.”
Will closed his eyes, grabbed my shoulders, wrenched me toward him, and kissed me. I tensed up, then I finally relaxed into his embrace. And then it was over. “Will…”
“I’m so sorry, Colie. I just can’t.” Then he started to walk away.
“Will. Don’t leave me. Please.” Tears began to spill out my eyes. I made no effort to wipe them away. I knew it’d be hopeless.
He wiped my eyes dry with his thumb, then kissed me on the forehead. “Goodbye, Colie. Forever. I’m so sorry.” The he began to walk away.
“Will, come back!” He wouldn’t turn around. And then, he was gone.
