Open Wounds

Open Wounds

A Poem by Kaycee
"

Just a poem about someone harboring deep emotional baggage that prevents them from leading and living a fulfilling life.

"
His skin appears nice and clean,
No spots, no lumps can be seen,
Hidden deep down inside,
A secret lurks that has quieted his soul as though the person he was has died,
Taking away from his physical appearance,
There's something untold that cannot be seen from a distance,
He takes his lies which are twisted up inside his mind,
And he refuses to see them as if he is blind,
No talk, no murmur of what is real,
He cannot process how he truly feels,
With all his unpositive thoughts and bad things of his past,
He realizes that's the reason his relationships don't last,
He is hurting, he is lost,
But he values the way he looks to other's the most,
And if that isn't enough,
He has other things going on that makes his life more tough,
Yet everyday he goes outside, gets in his car, goes to work, sits at his desk, and appears to happy with a grin,
And all of the time, he covers his open wounds, which ultimately makes him believe he can't win.

Yes I know a few people like that
An illness - disability
Which dont show on the surface
They press on with life

Yes, that's all they can do & they shouldn't ever give up. Thank you for the review.
This is heavy, Kaycee.
The rhyme is great and the message is subtle.
I'm a fan of both.

Yes it is pretty heavy, definitely something out of my normal writing space. Thank you for the revie.. read more
The last lines are the most revealing part of the poem. Who knows how many of us harbor grievous wounds beneath an upbeat facade? A thoughtful work here.
