Wings In My Ribcage

Wings In My Ribcage

A Poem by A Glow in the Pit of My Soul

It’s like this lame heart of mine
is reminding me
that it’s still beating.

Over-compensating
by almost busting through my sternum,
as if it fears I've left it behind,
to be long forgotten.

Stay calm, little bird,
I can hear your fluttering.

I never stopped listening.
