I am sad

Follow up to 'I am happy'

I am sad.

No you don't understand. 

I am sad now. 

I knew it was coming, from the moment I was happy. 

It would end, numbness would return.

And for longer than happy, 

Sad. 

I am sad. 

This is normal. 

I am comfortable with sad. 

Right now it is dark, no light can break through,

I am lost, I am alone. 

What is it to be, 

Happy.

This is a very familiar sentiment to me personally, having dealt with depression. I've read both pieces and they are an perfect example of when you're stuck in that dark place, and how happiness, as fleeting as it is, sets you alight. As if the hurt magnifies the happy, because you're so grateful to have it. But that's just my perspective. Overall, I found the two poems to be well written, pro
