Inner State of Mind: What I wouldn't giveA Poem by KoariSometimes, during my moments of depression, I observe the animals that live around us. Sometimes I see their lives as better than any human's. Here are some of my thoughts in my time of distress.
I look at the birds, and how they soar in the sky.
They fly without a care in the world, knowing they are free to do whatever they wish. I see the whale shark, swimming near the surface of the ocean. They travel without worry for predators, knowing they can live in the serenity of their huge home. I watch the cats of the wild, and their signs of strength. They roar without fear of competition, knowing that' they are powerful and determined to rule. What I wouldn't give to be truly free to fly like an eagle, to soar high in the sky without the fear of falling. Yet I am captive in the nest, my wings clipped and broken. What I wouldn't do to live with serenity and peace like a whale shark, to feel the energy of the water without anxieties or chaos. Yet I am caught in the world, my moments of peace few and widespread. What I wouldn't sacrifice to have the strength of a lion, to live determined and strong without second thoughts. Perhaps it is time to move on from this life, to become one of the creatures that I envy so much. To live strong, peaceful, and free.
