The Magic of Modern Dance

There are many ways one can express themselves. For me, it is modern dance.

Dancing in the amphitheater,

with music playing in her ears,

she allows the music to guide her

and bring her to worlds only she can imagine.

In one dance she is a mermaid,

gracefully swimming through a reef.

Her fluid motions and constant movement,

reminds her of being submerged underwater.

She smells the salt water air,

she sees the beautiful ocean blue.

Surrounded by colorful fish of all kinds,

there is peace and tranquility in her mind.

In another dance she is an eagle,

soaring majestically through the sunny skies.

Her arms spread out and she is light on her feet,

giving her the sensation of flight.

She feels the wind blow through her hair,

the world is spread out before her golden eyes.

And with the strength to fly wherever she wishes,

there is freedom and joy in her steps.

It doesn't matter if people stop to watch,

or if whispers about her are made.

She continues to dance to her music,

and let the rest of the world slip away.

Dancing in the amphitheater,

with music playing in her ears,

she uses her imagination to visit other worlds,

and allows the magic of modern dance fill her with joy.

Just another spontaneous poem about what I love.
I could go on and on about how much modern dance means to me. It is my exercise, my pick-me-up, and my escape from the stresses that I have in every day life. I hope you like it and get a glimpse of how I feel and what I experience when I dance.
