who are you?

who are you?

A Poem by Kay

who are you

standing pensively in my room at night

honey-eyed ghost with

birchwood black hair

strong shoulders looming protectively

ambivalent, stubbled jaw

powerful heartbeat echoing in my ears

your rhythmic ocean flow

and tender, piercing gaze

stabbing like a warm knife through me

half pleasure, half pain

in reach of my fingertips

yet passing through phantom weight

watching you in wake and sleep

as you watch me beneath him

and i imagine he wears your shell

touched by your canvas

painted by the moisture in your tears

as we move closer and closer

crossing the boundaries of time

spiral staircase into recognition

of my soulmate’s transmigration

past and present connected once more

lost in centuries of unsatiated desire

a deeper craving for drawing you deeper

into uncharted waters

between the shadows of unconscious folds

where my subconscious cries for you

searching in crowds forever

until the river meets the ocean

your eyes meeting mine

and i not only feel your warmth

but this time

i’ll know

your name

Thank you so much for your review, Kim! =)
Some fine phrases in this journey of discovery that remains unfinished... For example, 'honey-eyed ghost with birchwood black hair' and 'painted by the moisture in your tears' and 'between the shadows of unconscious folds'. The poem conveys so well the heart's endless longing, the hope for a connection that rings true, for the warmth of love.

Thank you for your kind words Jibey!
searching for that elusive soulmate...and each time we ask...is this the one?
while the apparition of that soulmate watches over us...until finally the spirit/soul joins the body of THE one...
and here we are...finally together.
this poem reads like an epic movie in verse.
