Life Will End

Life Will End

A Poem by Kay

life will end.

that, my love, is a fact.

it is the cruelest pain to be inflicted on anyone,

and most of us choose to forget.

i cannot blame them though,

no human was given the means to survive this.

not one, like me, who breathes you.

i never decided to fall in love,

it just couldn’t be helped when our paths met.

i don’t remember exactly as it took over,

staking its bright flag into my heart’s castle.

everything about you washed through me.

nothing about me could resist you.

i walk, talk, sing, write, read, sleep and dream,

with your essence guiding my reality.

i hope there’s a god, i deeply do.

i would pray with my soul for an afterlife,

where i get to spend eternity with you by my side.

i may not deserve it, maybe it doesn’t work at all.

maybe there’s no god to ask,

but i take my chances and beg the universe above.

life will end, i cannot change this truth.

it frightens me more than you know,

but i love you beyond it.
