Bluejay

Bluejay

A Poem by Kay

in the dark

on my knees

with this disease

caged in a cave

bleeding from both wings

a tear for every star

i see from between the bars

the wounds sting

like frostbite beneath the skin

shadows talking in my head

monsters stalking my bed

i’m dreaming in red

the vultures try to come in

i can’t unlock the pin

just pace against the clock

with this mental block

too much silence for the brain

going insane

no light across the sea

only darkness and me

losing myself each day

like pollen floating in wind

not sure what will stay

but the carcass of a bluejay

on a black canvas

fallen in dismay

Oh man this sounds so goth to me. It's subtle and brooding- and beautiful.
