![]() Press PauseA Poem by KayI press pause - perfect. Now I can rearrange the stars, and lick the whipped cream on my steaming cocoa slowly, lie beneath my covers and watch the spider pose in its web, poke a raindrop and feel its silky collapse, stroke a squirrel’s tail where it always looks the softest, grasp couples’ hands and interlock them in the park, catch bullets whistling by and throw them away, pray for every patient in the hospital in their last moment, reach into a burning blue flame and defy science, wipe the tear of a stranger who’s having a bad day, write funny jokes on the faces of politicians and racists, collect snowflakes in a colorful crystal jar, ruffle a dog’s fluffy fur and kiss its button nose, give a rose to every old person who appreciated their life, step on a glassy river-shore that mirrors a perfect sky, wrap my arms around each foster child that found no home, push aside the needle for the kitten that’s taking up space, blow bubbles and giggle because they won’t pop, gently place a bandaid on bruises of the domestically abused, sneak into a NASA shuttle and play with gravity simulators, hug my parents for all the sacrifices they made for me, sketch my name in the icy grey of a silent fog, graze my fingertips across the wings of a monarch butterfly, sit on a bench in a field of sleeping flowers, and count my blessings for this temporary life. © 2018 KayReviews
