Dragon-Woman

Dragon-Woman

A Poem by Kay

That massive temptress, lifting up her chest,

shouting her words like a dragon spews fire

with muddy leaves in her ruffled hair nest,

nude of the paint-drips most jeune femmes require -

roaring to the skyscraper: down it rains,

pieces of pearls at the claws of a queen,

stretching full length into the sun’s wide plains;

in her glorious eyes, fear is unseen.

Unbound, she launches from Earth to the moon,

a daunting shadow chilling man’s slow gaze;

not succumbing, not tricked by him to swoon,

a rebellious strength in her bright blaze.

As she soars across the world, wings in view,

a woman whispers, “I wish I were you.”
