Phantoms

Phantoms

A Poem by Kay

Stumbling, fumbling, crashing like a spinning anchor

into your oblivion, a Milky Way of feathers, an outstretched arm

massaging over my waist, grabbing on tight,

breathless brace -- oh god

“I’ve got you.”

Everything frozen in that instant, hairs and goosebumps,

bruises dormant beneath a heart turned blue.

Paralyzed in this dizzy spell, blurry vision -

which of these phantoms is you?
