Livid in this stillness

Livid in this stillness

A Poem by Kay

Livid in this stillness, while snowflakes knock on my window

to remind me look up or life will pass by,

I worry through tunnels and collide with a skullbeast,

let my face fall to palm and sigh.

Brick and stone organized in columns to my left,

an inside perspective to my right, dimly lit,

the beast in my head clanging from claustrophobia:

“Forget these stresses or you will be bit!”

Lips make smiles to create likable light,

though behind those eyes are claws digging bone.

I gaze at the desk, the faces, the commonality;

more than anything, I want to go home.
