Diving Off the Edge

Diving Off the Edge

A Poem by Kay

Diving off the edge of a cliff

          unable to swim

I just want to find you.

Reach you in a cavern

where the octopus dwells

wrap me in a league of a thousand arms.

Can we trace back to moment one,

a colossal crowd

moment two, on our own island?

Why does memory fall

          like sand through the hourglass?

Why do details pass?

Somewhere in these dark depths

we thrive

entangled in this hot, seaweed madness.

Currents push me to shallow waters,

          a shell carried too far

from blue light to blackness.
