Heave a sigh of night

Heave a sigh of night

A Poem by Kay

Heave a sigh of night, a breath I have not taken

and tell me if you dare the truth of love;

nay eye could miss the glance you were given

by the beacon of my darkness, my one true mistress.

I have served her wholly, my scars will show,

but she notices not, for she is gazing upon you.

What have you given but the ignorance of a fool

fascinated by your treasures and naught else?

I have broken my arms jumping into the sea

to please her by the ripples coming after.

I have given my legs chasing her across the world

to make certain her glorious face is lit with a smile.

I have lost my ears from the bells I rang

to alert the world Her Grace is departing.

I have not the ability to sing a song again

for I have spent eternal hours calling her name.

Yet shame must take me, there can be no other reason

convicted of my lady to shun me in your lust

than the chance that I mayhap have disappointed

all I would've given my life for.
