venom

venom

A Poem by Kavya Janani

your hand formed a noose around my neck
but now you're nothing but a nuisance i regret

you ruined me forever.

the bittersweet venom of your love will burn in my veins eternally
you ruined me forever, and i mean this certainly

i'm sitting here in perfect weather,
lonesome because we're not together.
paradise really isn't paradise
without you.

you ruined me forever.

empty bars with sad guitars
is where i feel you.
the real you.
yet i can't cry even when i try

you ruined me forever.

i feel my sin and it's intense
and i sit here asking for repence
i'm so tense and none of this makes
sense.

you ruined me forever.

in a dream you came to me last night
you held me tight, and told me it was alright
and when i awakened,
i was filled with spite.

you ruined me forever.

while i dreamt of you i was in the arms of another
a man worthy of being my lover.
but your love smothered all parts of my being.
my eyes are glued shut, yet you're all that i'm seeing.

all that i'm seeing is blind
i wanted your authenticity, but couldn't feel mine.
our love is intense, you see, and
i want to leave you behind

as hard as it is to admit,
you're apart of my past.
but my love for you will last,
forever.

the bittersweet venom of your love will burn in my veins eternally.

you ruined me forever.
