When You WereA Poem by KAVIBES
When you were little
You saw your future before you A child holding a piece of your soul A family that filled any void A life full of peace A treasure on no map And a gift one man cannot possess But rather than a blessing A curse revealed under your touch When you were older You endured your trials of men You received gifts that cried music You watched it grow and wither You watched your flower's life slip Holding onto the petals as they danced to their own symphony A step back you took as your garden's view remained When time had passed The chapter had closed All that seemed so close grew distant What appeared solid exposed its hidden cracks Your pleasure turned to a nuisance And your words became a blade that wept silently You reached the ears of the ignorant And the harp's hum vibrated through deaf ears I watched your smile flip The gift of comfort captive in your throat Your mouth served as my executioner whilst prying eyes turned away I forgive you I forgive you I know why you do this I can see the rhythm fighting against the chains of ice But the difference is Even though I see through your tainted light You yourself are blind to the streams my eyes release You are deaf to the pleads on my lips And when you're gone I will see your pretty face as well But my mind will see the tears you caused Along with the words that still haunt me
