You Said You Loved Me

You Said You Loved Me

A Poem by KAVIBES

You told me you loved me
And I honestly believed it
You told me you loved me
Don't know how I couldn't see it
Since it was anything you'd say
To make sure that I would stay
You told me you loved me
So I forgave you for all your sins
Even when your hands were on another woman's skin
I'm such a fool for thinking it could work
When we both refuse to see my very worth
I asked for your time, and I got a second
I asked for your love, and I got a lesson
I watched your garden bloom just like I watched it die
Any time you knocked, I let you inside
You were a battle I was always willing to fight
Even though here I laid staring into the light
You told me you loved me
So here I stayed
Waiting for which I prayed
Something that you never gave
