Small Abuses

Small Abuses

A Poem by Katsura
"

The smallest things often add up to be larger than is bearable

"
epression, anxiety, and trauma
Are poisons to the abused
And antidotes to the progenitors of small abuses
A sword and shield, a self-protecting weapon

Each abuse is small
They may not even be considered abuses
An off-handed comment, a tongue in cheek
Each seems shallow yet still cuts too deep

The outside is blind
None can see the growing pain
Each person lays on another straw
And doesn't see my back's about to break

What is a noose but a thousand strands?
Even though each strand is weak
Everyone says it's out of their hands
And leaves the solutions for another to seek

Next time you decide to play the joker
Remember that words are actions too
Life's gambles carry more risk than poker
So lift the veil of ignorance and see through
