Fragile Strength (12/11/09)A Poem by Katseye
Fragile Strength
Such a brittle pillar,
To hold up the weight of the world.
All of their troubles,
Come to rest upon my shoulders,
Expected to make it right.
Such fragile support,
For all of your hopes and dreams.
My own pain and sorrow forsaken,
No freedom to break,
No time to rest.
The quicksand's under my feet,
Yet they all lean on me.
A crumbling beam,
Without any brace.
A rod of steel running up my spine...
That's how you picture me.
Just look a little closer-
Beyond the cracked and crumbling facade.
A hollow core-
Where iron should be.
That's my reality.
