You an I  (1/23/95)

You an I (1/23/95)

A Poem by Katseye

You and I

Why do we fight,
When it hurts us so?
We've come through this kind of fight before,
Always able to work it out.

Why now do you say you must go?
Will you return,
Or is this the end?

You say you'll be back,
But will you stay,
Or just leave again?

Baby so what you must,
But hasn't it always been,
You and I?

Can you just walk away from love?
When noone else cared,
Wasn't I there?

So we fight once in a while;
No two people can agree all the time.
Not even you and I.

Our love can't protect us always,
But should we just throw it away?

Baby I know it's not perfect,
Or quite how we expected,
But it is as it should be.
You and I til the end of time.

When we started out together,
Our friends said it wouldn't last.
We knew they were wrong.

We only made it this far by:
Fighting together.
And I'm not ready;
To walk away from this fight.

Please stay with me tonight.
If you still want to leave in the morning,
I'll let you go.

What else can I do?
