I Lied (Dec. '94)

I Lied (Dec. '94)

A Poem by Katseye

I Lied

The nights I'd cry for some reason;

To you unknown,

You held me,

Let me know it was alright,

Because you were there.

For these I never thanked you.

Through it all we found happiness,

And lost our hearts.

Still I know mine shattered;

When you said goodbye.

You said,

"We both know our days together,

Are nearly gone.

That we should be thankful,

For the time we had."

I am.

For in that time;

You found I had a short temper,

Because I was afraid to lose you.

I learned you were just as scaired.

Still we stayed.

No two people could have cared more,

For one another than we.

You worried when I couldn't be found.

I worried when you were late.

You looked after me,

I cared for you.

Both saying we accepted,

That one day you would leave.

I lied!

For I love you,

 More than you will ever know.

I don't want to let you go.

Please understand,

I tried not to fall in love.

I truly did.

I knew our time was short,

So I tried to just enjoy,

But my heart would not listen to reason.
