Flimsy Tape

Flimsy Tape

A Poem by Eliott

Flimsy tape
Thin
Dirty
Twisting
Peeling

Broken pieces
Shattered glass
Held loosely together
With flimsy tape

Obviously broken
Obviously used
Wearing out
Unwanted.

Flimsy tape
Unreliable
Not strong enough for anything important
Holding me together.

Once valued
Now thrown away.
Once admired
Now ignored.
Once treasured
Now trash.
Seemingly strong
Deceivingly fragile
Now falling apart.

Flimsy tape
Grimy, clouded
Disgusting
Pathetic
Layered thick
Yet wearing thin.
Holding me together.
Just barely
Holding me together.

Obviously damaged.
Obviously worthless.
Used and then disposed of.
Worn out.
Covered and suffocated
By too much tape.
But not enough.
Not enough to last.
Not enough to fix me.
Just enough to make me look cheap
And broken beyond repair.

Desperately
In need
Of glue.

Too broken to be useful
Yet still used.
Once something
Now nothing.
Once seen
Not loved
But seen
Now invisible.

Flimsy tape
Too much tape
Twisting
Dirty
Peeling

Unstuck.
