Thin ScreenA Poem by EliottJust a song
You dive right in
To drown yourself But the water hits me And it wakes me up The drops on my face are as cold as ice As you sink to the bottom I realize what I wanted And I want it I float on the surface and look up to the sky And the stars with you Beneath me How can you breathe? How can you do what you want without thinking about what could go wrong Till it goes wrong? How can you do what you want without thinking and fearing And wasting your time on the meaning of life And trying to be right And getting it wrong And using up your chances till they're gone? The next time that I go with you I'm gonna jump from an airplane without a parachute. You've got the wind in your hair and the sun in your eyes As you're falling rapidly you realize that I'll catch you. I don't get you. I float on the surface and look up to the sky And the stars with you Beneath me How can you breathe? How can you do what you want without thinking about what could go wrong What could go wrong? How can you do what you want without thinking and fearing And wasting your time on the meaning of life And trying to be right And getting it wrong And using up your chances till they're gone? I'm on the surface But I need to go deeper Break this thin screen That keeps me for being with you It keeps me from being like you. I'm sinking deeper and looking to the surface Of the water with you Beside me. And we don't breathe. I float on the surface and look up to the sky And the stars with you Beneath me How can you breathe? How can you do what you want without thinking about what could go wrong I was so wrong. How can you do what you want without thinking and fearing And wasting your time on the meaning of life And trying to be right And getting it wrong And using up your chances till they're gone? © 2014 EliottReviews
