Now I Can See

Now I Can See

A Poem by Eliott

I lie in my bed
with a blanket over my head.
I won't open my eyes.
I know what I will see.
I'll see an empty room.
I'll see no trace of you.
I keep them closed and try to go to sleep.
The room grows hot. Under this blanket I can't breathe.

At a time in my life when my trust in you is weak,
You find where I hide.
You take my hand and pull me
Out of darkness into light.
You open my eyes.
Now I can finally see.

My curtains are on fire.
It spreads across my floor.
I run through the room
And reach for the door.
It's locked from outside.
I jump into my bed and hide.

At a time in my life
When my trust in you is poor
I open my eyes
But I can't see you anymore.
Through darkness into light
You open my eyes.
Now I can finally see.

There is blazing fire on every side of me.
I can't see.
I stuck on earth and I can't breathe.
I scream and cry
But my tears dry.
I scream your name.
Please answer me!
I scream it again and again and again.

You pull me out of the darkness
And into the sky.
You let me breathe.
You let me cry.
You open my eyes.
Now I can finally see
You.
