He and I
A voice, a face impossible to forget With the sound of laughter ringing in my ear I am thankful that it was he I had met, It never occurred to me before this year. That Voice that I had become so fond of then, Told me, sublimely, a secret of when; Not how, but when I would see him again. He told me, “My dear, this is not quite the end.” Now and again he speaks kindly to me Somehow my laughter can keep his soul alive. I shrug it off as “Something I just can’t see,” But the truth really is, I could fly inside. Now, just as I begin to walk away I can, quite clearly, hear him inhale, then say; “What could I do without you laughing like this?” Then I walk away, dreaming of a kiss. Crushes are definitely weird things to have Sometimes they mean something, though most times they can’t. It’s too nice to think and daydream, so I’m glad I pray for the day I can take my own stand; To actually do something good, just for me. Who could know? It may really seem “meant-to-be.” If I open my mouth for more than a sigh, Perhaps my own words could make us “He-and-I.”
