Life is BeautifulA Poem by Katie KoleanThis poem is about suicide and self-harm. I wrote this because I wanted people who are feeling this way to feel like they are not alone.Once, I was like you, I didn't know what to do, All I could do is cry, And ask myself, "why?" But one day I realized, knife to my wrist, That life is worth living, I should not end it. I know that some days, It will be tough. You'll want more than anything just to give up. But I'll tell you one thing: please don't give in, For life is beautiful. That mean girl and her friends who called you fat, Don't listen to them, you're worth more than that. Your classmates think you should not be alive, Don't listen to that, fill yourself with pride. So, put down that gun, Turn your face towards the sun, For your life is beautiful. I know it's not easy, I know that it's tough. You'll want it to be over, Yes, I know that it's rough. But I'll tell you something that I have said before, That life is beautiful. © 2016 Katie KoleanAuthor's Note
