Half FullA Poem by Katie Kistlerwhen I said next time I’m not gonna do the chasing that was well before I knew that you existed the things I do when I’m in love always amaze me it’s like my heart keeps getting broke but keeps insisting and now I’m running after you like some puppy big sad eyes and loyal to a fault asking every second “do you love me?” baby, I love you and I don’t know how to stop but if there’s one thing that I know it’s that you’re staying I’ve been lied to before but not by you wasn’t familiar with the game that you were playing everybody else ends up breaking the rules but not you if you were cupid you’d be shooting straight and true no target practice, throwing axes hit the bullseye every time guess that’s your move you say you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop and honestly, I think I’m right there, too shutting down as soon as you get angry convinced you’re gonna leave and brush me off but if it’s any consolation, darling, know this I need you like the air that’s in my lungs without you I’m a motherfucking goner I could never ever give up on us, love so if there’s one thing you should know it’s that I’m staying you may have been hurt before but not my me you’re not familiar with the game that I’m playing I’m following the rules cause I’m no cheat just trust me if I were cupid I’d be shooting straight and true some target practice, throwing axes missed the bullseye every time cause they weren’t you and on the off chance that you’re ever second guessing just know that I will always pay my dues thickheaded as my mother raised me but I can make a promise, baby I promise that I’m always choosing you © 2024 Katie Kistler |
