Hello

Hello

A Poem by Katie Kistler

I just want you to know
when we’re alone it’s all I wanted
and you’re my home
no matter where we go we’ve got it
through the summer rain and winter storms
I’d brave it all to keep you warm
and safe inside my arms
I’d brave it all

I’ve been asleep for near a quarter century
woke up with the sun shining on me
a snowflake crown atop your head
confirming everything I’ve read
everyone will find their somebody
you’re somebody to me

and we’ve been hurt and we’ve been pushed
and we’ve been down and we’ve been good
and ended up exactly where we should
loving you’s a story for the books

you’ve been big eyes and big hearted your whole life
argue with me if you want, I know I’m right
you’ve been sweet and overzealous
you’ve been cautious and unselfish
I’ve been waiting to say hello to you since 1997

and I’d go to war for you
if you asked me to
with sharpened tongue and sharpened knife
I’d burn it down for you
castles crumble, armies fall
I’d push my chest out, stand so tall
meet your eyes above the ruins
and do it all again for you

Gee
Sums up my 33years with my wife(31 years married)
I'm 1991 she accepted the challenge of turning a box full of bits and bobs into a man she could love, marry and have a child with, I am one lucky, lucky man.
Really enjoyed this write Katie
