City

City

A Poem by Katie Kistler

it’s a big little city
for a girl to get lost in
crazy how I think it’s pretty
when it snows here so often
but now I don’t relate it to desolate cold
I think of the Japanese garden park
when we were 23 years old
it’s like watching the paint dry
I still have that canvas
still got the dishes I can’t eat out of
and I’ll never understand it
but I’ll keep them forever
in my cardboard box of treasures

it’s a big little city
for love to get lost in
there are so many people
and I think about them often
where are all of the mistakes that I never made
all of the years that I could have put to waste
lucky that I found you when I did
lucky…or would you call it fate?
destiny…you and me?
divinely intertwined or meant to be?
whatever you believe
I believe in you and me

There's a touch of magic and memory in your prose poetry. You tell, you show, you wander and watch over the place and people then. magically find that one special person. Start to finish you share special sights, special memories.. and that one who seems meant for you. Delightful, romantic. Thank you for sharing.
