Bonefire

big eyes
lovely nose
full lips
cheeks of rose
no, I don’t know
where they all go

perfect hands
slight of waist
junctured jaw
angled face
no, I won’t waste
one more day

must be easy when you look like that
love and attention on a silver platter
must be simple when you’ve always had
everyone telling you you matter

yeah, I know I’m jaded and I stereotype
but I’ve been burned too many times
to offer any scraps of mine
no, I won’t feed the fire

leathered hands
thimble tips
rose thorn arms
I’m made to prick
I feel sick
take me away

and she’ll be soft
like feathered down
hair like autumn
leaves around
I could drown
take me away

makes you bristle when you’re loved like that
lies embedded into every memory
must be nice to have what I don’t have
loyalty from the very beginning

yeah, I know I’m jaded and I stereotype
but I’ve been burned too many times
to offer any scraps of mine
no, I won’t feed the fire

but take these bones of mine, I’ll lay
weighed with stone upon the flames
tear down all the hate I’ve gained
and let’s see what remains
