Dr. Pepper Can

Dr. Pepper Can

A Poem by Katie Kistler
"

L

"
pick me up on the dark side of the moon
shut me up with thoughtless thoughts of you
always there like you're painted on my mind
reaching out like the thorniest rose vines

you were the ballerina in the music box
the doors I went to open but they all were locked
the dark moods passing through
whenever it rained
now I see it's all the same

cause you're the girl who's name
is scrawled on an empty soda can
countless pictures never captured
cause you ran
you'll fall in love
with the saddest songs you can
and pretend that you don't feel
even though you feel so bad

Mrs. "who cares? I'm a flip-side kind of girl"
I'll catch you there
when I can bear
to face the world
