StrawberryA Poem by Katie KistlerWorking on getting to the point where you’re kind of at peace with growing apart from a best friend a tiny little bit
Run little strawberry, run
To the back of my head Where I’ll never find you again Walk, espresso bean walk Like the way that you talk Hardly at all Speak, tangerine speak Like you did in the summertime Dark eyes boring into mine But leave, carrot head leave Like the leaves on the trees Changing with seasons Left me here No words, my dear It’s all to come Said and done And again Sleep, skinny knees sleep Like you do in my dreams The only time that I see you Lie, autumn leaves lie To my face all the time It makes you smile Leave, poetry leave Scraps of pages all blank Stealing my words away But keep, beautiful keep Something that might remind you Of me © 2019 Katie Kistler |
