Level 5

Level 5

A Poem by Katie Kistler

Well the leaves are falling
And the sky is falling
The pumpkins are rotting
There are winter plants for potting
And I miss you calling me
To go get coffee on Main Street
And
Smoking in your old white Volvo in the morning
Smoking on your old white porch swing in the evening
Smoking in the parking ramps in high school
Level five remember
You said remember level five

Well the bands are playing
And I guess we’re playing
I toyed around with staying
But I was better off just staying away
And I miss you saying that
You loved the way we clashed
And
Smoking in your old white Volvo in the morning
Smoking on your old white porch swing in the evening
Smoking in the parking ramps in high school
Level five remember

Now we’re smoking in these brand new backyards in the morning
Smoking in your brand new used car in the evening
Go back and smoke in places from those high school days
The more you grow the more things change
But level five still stays the same
Level five remember
