A Poem by Katie Kistler

Casual existentialists
Blockaded by imaginary lists
You spend your time alone
You take your time to phone
Sorry that I never call
Days here pass like the rain that falls
And all my seconds I used up
Nothing seems to be enough

Raise the curtain, please I beg
This is one place I’ll not stay
So when I sleep I dream away
Every day

Nonchalant and so compliant
My anxious ways may keep me silent
All my time alone
Makes a hermit in his own body
Sorry that I never write you
I never meant to try and spite you
In a different state
Things tend to fade away

Clear the fog and light the trail
Turn the motor, set the sail
So when I can return
I can easily relearn
The way

And I will bring my Aphrodite
And you can bring your charm
I’ll bring my one and only
To the icy winter storms

Wake me up

Wake me up

Wake me up

When it’s warm
