I'm Hiding In Your Memory Box

I'm Hiding In Your Memory Box

A Poem by Katie Kistler
"

"
A new notch on your belt
A story you can tell
That's how I'll go down with you
A shadow at your side
That never caught your eye
Someone you could afford to lose

But you were my first love
The girl I'm writing of
When I am writing anything
The word that's on my tongue
The face I'm dreaming up
The song that I was born to sing

You're what I see in morning coffee
You're what I see in freckled cheeks
You're what I see when I see nothing
You're what I see in everything

So don't forget
Say you won't forget me

Some letters in a box
That you've all but forgot
The only tie you've got to me
But you don't really care
You'll probably leave them there
To rot beside my memory

But I could not forget
Your words run through my head
"I love you more than anything"
If that was true then why
Am I sitting in silence
Asking you to answer me

You're what I hear in every love song
You're what I hear when I'm asleep
You're what I hear in the three most common words
That are hardly ever spoken to me

But don't forget
I won't forget
Say you won't forget about me
