Untaken Picture

Untaken Picture

A Poem by Katie Kistler
"

"
There were freckles in your eyes
Like speckles of light
And dust motes floating all around your head
The shadows on your face were picture perfect right
Some things just can't be captured through a lens

And I can't get you down in graphite
Can't write you out too well
It ends up two-dimensional
And leaves too much to tell
Like a stain on your favorite shirt
You remain an untaken picture
And that's all
I'll get to have for now

There were bruises on your knees
Like scraps of poetry
And cuts and scrapes that came from god knows where
The patterns on your skin in faded bluish ink
Look different from the last time I was there

And I can't get you to explain things
Although you talk so much
I listen just to pick out
All the subjects you don't touch
Like the way you never tell me first
All the things you've buried in the dirt
That what I have
Is all I'll get from you

The first lines really caught my attention, that was when I knew this poem was going to be like abstract since it said freckles in your eyes. Abstract line. Great job! Also I was wondering can you take the time to read and leave a review on my story.
