Like You

A Poem by Katie Kistler
"

I want your delicate wrists
The Cupid's bow set on your lips
The prominence of each small rib
And the smoothness of your skin

I wish that I could make people laugh
That I was not always picked last
Technically it hasn't always been like that
But you changed it, don't you see

How could the beginning of summer
Love the winter as you do
Spring's supposed to be inbetween
But it gave it up for you
How could a stone cold bummer
Keep the likes of you around
You rolled your eyes and helped me up
Cause you could tell that I was down

I wanna be like you

You're not supposed to be reading this
I never would have said it to you
But when I see you I see
What I couldn't do

The confidence and sticky charms
The crooked grin and open arms
The poems engraved in your palms
You rest on broken things

How could the beginning of summer
Love the winter as you do
Spring's supposed to be inbetween
But it gave it up for you
How could a stone cold bummer
Keep the likes of you around
You rolled your eyes and helped me up
Cause you could tell that I was down

I wanna be like you
