Dear Liam

Dear Liam

A Poem by Katie Kistler

I'll never get to know so many people
And it wouldn't bother me
If one of these
Was not my father
I'll never get to know the man that hurt my mother
And I don't want to
But he's selfish like that

Daniel, you lied and you stole
Dan, you tried to buy my love
To fill up that guilty hole
Daniel, I know you're not broke
You just picked up another kid
But couldn't fund your own

I'll never get to know my new step brother
And it wouldn't bother me if I hadn't been passed up
For another
Accidental little baby
But he could pay for the new kid
So I'm happy about that

I'll never really get to tell you, Liam
But your dad is not so great
In fact, he's kind of awful
I hope that you don't end up like your father
But it's possible
And I'm sorry about that

Daniel, you're digging a hole
Dan, you say you love me
But you don't know me at all
Daniel, stop cracking your jokes
Dan, this isn't funny
Now there's one more kid you broke
