Every Other Girl

Every Other Girl

A Poem by Katie Kistler
"

Wishing for love you've never had

"
It starts off slow
Like a bump from nose to nose
Or the touch of fingers on her lips
A brush of skin
And I wish I didn't miss
What I know that I could never win
Always falling way too fast
Because based on the past
If I had spoken sooner she'd be mine
It seems to work for the rest of the world
But I am lonely still
After all this time

I need a girl
To look at me like I'm the world
Cause I can see what I feel in her eyes
I need to know it's for certain when she tells me this will last for quite some time
I see these girls fighting for each other's lives
And I wish someone would fight for mine
A warm embrace
A little "hey, are you okay?"
Hold me tight and hold me through the night

Cause we
Can start off slow
But when the time comes
Don't let go
Don't let this grow cold
Cause you know
We love each other so

I love you so, I love you
I love you
I love you so
I love you so, I love you
I love you
I love you so

Her lips are swollen
And her cheeks are flushed in pink
And their hands are intertwined
Her eyes, they flutter
I can feel her stomach drop
Because the girl she loves said "please be mine"
I want to feel somebody's thumb brush my tattoo
Ask me questions, pretty please
Tell me that I can make you happy
And that no one makes you happier, baby

I want to gaze at you in moonlight
Feel my words stuck in my throat
But I'll say them anyways
I'll be cheesy and romantic
And you'll tell me that I'm cute
Make me promise you I'll stay
I will stay

Cause we
Can start off slow
But when the time comes
Don't let go
Don't let this grow cold
Cause you know
We love each other so

I love you so, I love you
I love you
I love you so
I love you so, I love you
I love you
I love you so
