Reine Du Monde

Reine Du Monde

A Poem by Katie Kistler
"

"
You are the princess of every lake in the state
And there's a lot of those, I know
At least a thousand so they say
But every body of water
Was made by something bigger
And when I'm on the shore with you
I feel like you pulled a trigger
Cause everything is new again
And I'm surrounded by so much beauty
The brown in your eyes
The blue in mine
Like dirt and water polluting
Every crevice of the earth
With our muddy, perfect hands
Leaving footprints off the trails
Claiming this ocean
Claiming this land
My eyes were opened wide
And I'm breathing underwater
You're showing me the world
Like you could not be bothered
To do any other thing
No matter who would offer
To keep you with a ring
You hold your own and turn to conquer
Every corner of your home
Every place you lust to wander
And you'll never be alone
For I'll stay a little longer
