Alina II

Alina II

A Poem by Katie Kistler

you are a tie-dyed stain in my head
a daisy chain crown of affairs
kiss me kindly, my darling
look, my cheeks have turned scarlet
to match your fingers
put down the razor blade
and let me love you more
than the pain in your chest
more than the lump in your throat
instead of shiny white scars
let there be scrawls of "I love you"s
in black and pink sharpie
let's sleep in the bed of this truck
and share a pack of cigarettes
you'll kill me faster than that
hurt me worse than the tar in my lungs
every morning I'll pull off your glasses
give you sleepy kisses
and draw you a heart on your wrist
to remind you I'm yours
trace your knuckles
and kiss your palm
sweep up the leaves beginning to fall
like glimmers in your tunnel eyes
memories of crashing too hard
but I can catch you now
please fall into me
I'll hold you tightly
keep you safe from any harm
make you smile when you falter
a heart on every finger
for every day I'll love you more
