BeautyA Poem by Katie KistlerMore old poetry from a few years backWhere have you gone? Misbegotten porcelain beauty of the era Pensive and saddened, yet alight Dully glowing as only starlight can Full and vivid as the moon Forbidden as all else you love Untouched as only a touched thing may be Faltering where all prevail Prevailing where all falter A white lie laced in truth Breathing in the fake Exhaling life Shards of falsity embedded in a heart Too strong-willed to overtake Ignorant of failure White-lighted remedy Aching for a taste of the dark-tainted hold That has began to caress her mind Intertwine light and dark? Engulf something so fragile in something so strong And only broken happenings may occur Perfection will be lost The beholdings of beauty would be all but destroyed So she drifts among life Like some deadened soul Waiting to be awakened Seemingly as pure as the whitest snow And as precious as velvet As riddled out as any cave of wonders All that awaits is the tunnel in her eyes For when you venture to her heart You are designed to lead her to her place Show her the beauty of her countenance Give her back her soul Bring her home To life © 2015 Katie Kistler |
