Morra

Morra

A Poem by Katie Kistler

You are a moon
Dark eyes and gloom
Hair like the silvery light
Tease like you do
Trees just like you
Tall, dressed in green, but just right

You are the seaside
And I am an island
You are too vast
And I am just hiding
Charcoal sleeves covering
All that you are
Tell tale boots
That carry you far

Three braids live
On the side if your head
Snowy cascades
Finally melt
Pink lips like satin
A voice like a songbird
Hands of an artist
In paint they are covered

Dimpled cheeks turning
To smile too sweet
Strawberry taste
But more bittersweet
Fingers won't follow
Won't fit in my own
They keep to themselves
Like it alone

Except for the days
When they run through my hair
Lift up my chin
Handle with care
Our fingers don't fit
But your kiss is my vice
The thing I fall into
The first in my life

If Morra was something
Not trapped in my mind
I'd love her to death
Love her to be mine
